Omar Santos
Chief Executive Officer
Omar Santos is BlackGen Capital’s Chief Executive Officer for the 2023-2024 academic school year. He is currently a senior at Columbia University studying Business and Sociology. This past summer, Omar interned at Citadel as a Summer Investment Associate. Omar joined BlackGen in 2022 as a founding member of the Columbia chapter initially holding the position of VP of Education and later advancing to the role of Co-President. Omar’s introduction to the world of finance began in high school through a non-profit dedicated to closing the access gap for underprivileged students. As a result, the ethos of BlackGen is one he holds close to heart, and he’s excited and humbled to continue advancing that very mission.
Mariam Tigane
Chief Operating Officer
Mariam Tigane will be BlackGen Capital’s Chief Operating Officer for the 2023-2024 academic school year. She is currently a senior enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania, studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics with a concentration in Globalization. The previous two summers, she interned at Morgan Stanley in the Global Capital Markets (GCM) division and Research. Mariam joined BlackGen in 2023 as the Co-Founder and Co-President of the Penn chapter. This role allowed her to successfully connect various parts of the Penn community and engage them in BlackGen’s commendable initiatives. Her enthusiasm for furthering the BlackGen mission at the national level is palpable, and she is eager to continue contributing to its expansion!
Adeolu Adetayo
Chief Corporate Officer
Adeolu Adetayo will be BlackGen Capital’s Chief Corporate Officer for the 2023-2024 academic school year. He is a senior at Cornell University, studying Applied Economics & Management. This past summer, he interned at Centerview Partners as an Investment Banking Analyst. Adeolu joined BlackGen during his freshman fall and has matriculated through the ranks as the past VP of Recruitment and Co-President of the Cornell Chapter. Adeolu is honored to continue serving in an organization that has cultivated his professional and personal growth. BlackGen’s core mission to minimize the access gap and maximize opportunities for underrepresented minorities is something that he puts at the forefront of his goals.
Joshua Figueroa
Chief Investment Officer
Joshua Figueroa will be BlackGen Capital’s Chief Investment Officer for the 2023-2024 academic school year. He is a senior at Cornell University studying Applied Economics and Management. This past summer, Joshua interned at Evercore. Joshua joined BlackGen at Cornell in Fall 2020 and eventually progressed to the Co-VP of Education and Co-President position. Joshua is excited to continue serving BlackGen Capital's mission of closing the access gap and providing underrepresented minorities with endless opportunities to succeed. BlackGen Capital paved the way for Joshua and he can’t wait to help pave the way for the next generation of underrepresented leaders.
Thalia Gomez
Chief Human Resources Officer
Thalia Gomez will be BlackGen Capital’s Chief Human Resource Officer for the 2023-2024 academic school year. She is a senior at Barnard College of Columbia University studying Economics and Political Science. Last summer, she was at the Federal Housing Finance Agency, in Market Risk. This summer, she interned at Oak Hill Advisors as an Investment Analyst. Thalia joined the BlackGen Columbia chapter as a founding member and the VP of Marketing in 2022. This year, she is excited to have the opportunity to serve as CHRO and continue to bring forth BlackGen’s key values. Thalia looks forward to help foster the BlackGen community nationally, pay it forward for other students, and, most importantly, close the access gap in finance.
